The first and still one of the most engaging of Alessi's ‘designer kettles’. This iconic design was created by the renowned German Designer Richard Sapper in 1983 and has gone on to become one of the company's best selling designs.
With jaw dropping good looks and beautiful Alessi build quality this design is as much a piece of art as it is a functional kitchen device.
The design has also been created with an appealing degree of eccentricity in the whistle department. Sapper has cleverly replaced the annoying shrill sound that is found on most whistle kettle designs with an altogether more appealing melodic brass whistle.
That beautifully engineered brass whistle produces the ‘E’ and ‘B’ notes that sound similar to the river boat whistles heard on the Rhine. Sapper apparently spent time collaborating with a maker of tuning pipes in the Black Forest to obtain a particularly attractive melody.
The heavy weight 18/10 Stainless Steel construction ensures that this is a robust design and this version has a steel bottom making it also suitable for use with induction hobs.
